Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

Citizenship and Immigration Canada assess permanent residency application under federal skilled worker (FSW) program based on the following factors:

Have at least 1 year of full-time skilled work experience in an occupation in the NOC O, A and B categories in the last 10 years;
Score at least 67 points based on six selection factors, which includes age, education, language, work experience and adaptability;
Demonstrate, by way of a standardized language proficiency test acceptable to the Canadian government, at least an Adequate-Intermediate language proficiency in English or French (Canadian Language Benchmark: 7);
Have your foreign education credentials assessed, authenticated by one of four designated credential assessment agencies
Have sufficient funds to support yourself and your family.
Must not have any serious health issues
Must not have any criminal record

If an applicant qualifies in the FSW program with the pass mark of 67 points, he/she may apply under Express Entry program. Applying under express entry does not mean that applicant will be chosen, he/she will be ranked among all applicants who have entered in the express entry pool. Once CIC reviews applicant’s selection criteria and scores it, if applicant has sufficient points of interest to CIC, they will review, select and invite candidate to apply for Permanent Residence.
